With no surviving production or assembly instructions, I reverse-engineered the technique from historical photographs and auction house archives. Each notched stick is assembled meticulously by hand, with every piece composed of hundreds, sometimes thousands of individual components.
Each piece is based on the original Crown of Thorns design, six double sided thorns forming a single star like form, which serves as the foundation for all variations. From this base, I form new variations by changing the proportion and number of “thorns”. Every work is made to order based on selected options, with final details confirmed through the ordering process.
